Code Of Ethics and Professional Conduct

Preamble

– Membership in Filipino Professionals is voluntary. By accepting membership, a member assumes an obligation of self-discipline above and beyond the requirements of laws and regulations.

– These Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct of Filipino Professionals express the member’s recognition of its responsibilities to the public, to clients, and to colleagues. They guide members in the performance of their professional responsibilities and express the basic tenets of ethical and professional conduct.

– The Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct call for an unswerving commitment to honorable behavior, even at the sacrifice of personal advantage.

It is the policy of FilipinoPro.com as an organization to provide our Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, which will serve as a guide to all members.  We expect all members to observe the highest standards of ethics and integrity in their conduct.  This means following a basic code of ethical behavior that includes the following.

 1.  Build Trust and Credibility

 The success of our organization is dependent on the trust and confidence we instill on our own members. We promote credibility by adhering to our commitments, displaying honesty, integrity and reaching our goals solely through honorable conduct. 

2.  Respect for the Individual

We all deserve to be a part of an organization where we are treated with dignity and respect.

FilipinoPro is committed to creating such an environment because it brings out the full potential in each of us, which, in turn, contributes directly to our success.   FilipinoPro is an organization that supports an environment that is free of discrimination of all types from abusive, offensive or harassing behavior. Any member who feels harassed or discriminated against should report the incident to FilipinoPro’s board of directors.

3.  Create a Culture of Open and Honest Communication

At FilipinoPro everyone should feel comfortable to speak his or her mind, particularly with respect to ethics concerns.  We all have a responsibility to create an open and supportive environment where other members feel comfortable raising such questions. We all benefit tremendously when members exercise their power to prevent mistakes or wrongdoing by asking the right questions at the right times. 

FilipinoPro will investigate all reported instances of questionable or unethical behavior. In every instance where improper behavior is found to have occurred, the organization will take appropriate action. We will not tolerate retaliation against members who raise ethics concerns in good faith.

4.  Set the Tone at the Top

The board of directors or leadership team has the added responsibility for demonstrating, through their actions, the importance of this Code. In any organization, ethical behavior does not simply happen; it is the product of clear and direct communication of behavioral expectations, modeled from the top and demonstrated by example. Again, ultimately, our actions are what matters.

To make our Code work, leaders must be responsible for promptly addressing ethical questions or concerns raised by members and for taking the appropriate steps to deal with such issues.

Leaders should not consider members’ ethics concerns as threats or challenges to their authority, but rather as another encouraged form of business communication. We want the ethics dialogue to become a natural part of daily work.

5.  Uphold the Law

Our commitment to integrity begins with complying with laws, rules and regulations where we work or do business. Further, each of us must have an understanding of the organization’s policies, laws, rules and regulations that apply to our specific roles. If we are unsure of whether a contemplated action is permitted by law or Organizational policy, we should seek the advice from our local leadership team representative. Members, as individuals are responsible for preventing violations of law and for speaking up if they see possible violations. 

6.  Due Care

A member should observe their profession’s technical and ethical standards, strive continually to improve competence and the quality of services, and discharge professional responsibility to the best of the member’s ability.

Accountability

Each of us is responsible for knowing and adhering to the values and standards set forth in this Code and for raising questions if members are uncertain about organization policy. If members are concerned whether the standards are being met or are aware of violations of the Code, we must contact a local leadership team representative immediately.  Members will take seriously the standards set forth in the Code, and violations are cause for removal from the organization after a thorough investigation.

Compliance

Compliance with these principles is an essential element in our organization’s success.  Each member is responsible for ensuring these principles are communicated to and understood and observed by everyone.  Members are expected to bring to the leadership team’s attention any breach or suspected breach of these principles.  Provision can be been made for members to be able to report in confidence.

From time to time, members will likely have questions as to how this Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct apply in particular situations.  We expect all members with such questions to discuss the exact circumstances with your local leadership team representative.
